Canopy Statement || October 7, 2021

Canopy exists to provide a safer online experience for families, and the integrity of our platform is our top priority.

On August 26, 2021, we were made aware of an operational bug in the app that could, in rare instances, allow a child’s device to be used to disrupt parental controls. We issued an app update later that day to correct the issue and remained in contact with the tester who identified the vulnerability to address follow-up concerns. We have found no evidence that this functionality was ever exploited.

We regularly enlist independent third parties to test the security of our app. The most recent review was conducted this week and we can confirm with confidence that all concerns raised in a recent review have been addressed. Neither the parent’s nor the child’s device are vulnerable to third-party attacks through any known vulnerability.

Canopy constantly reviews the security of the app, and will continue to work around the clock to provide the highest level of protection for families. We are also reviewing our process for receiving and addressing concerns raised by users and third parties to ensure a timely and effective response.
